Examples and worksheets were created for this guide. Adapt them to your actual background.
1. Read the vacancy in three parts
Separate responsibilities, explicit requirements and desirable experience. Note two or three things the employer needs help with. Check that the vacancy is current.
If a requirement is unclear, you may need to ask the employer. Copying it into your CV does not establish that you meet it. Be precise about qualifications, professional authorization and experience with particular tools.
2. Choose a real example for each need
Identify tasks that demonstrate similar skills. Describe the work clearly while retaining your actual role and context.
In the example below, a fictional vacancy asks for customer communication, order follow-up and documentation. The source already contains those tasks; the rewrite makes the connection easier to read.
3. Improve emphasis without exaggerating
Move the most relevant example higher up and shorten material that does not help explain your fit. A short summary can explain why you are seeking this type of role.
Keep the facts intact when using AI. Ask whether you could explain each sentence with a real example. Remove claims about systems, leadership, budgets or results for which you have not supplied evidence.
Check against the vacancy once more
Read both documents again after editing, then inspect the exported file. Layout and sequence should still work for the person reading it. The official CV guidance linked below is in Swedish.
- I selected relevant tasks rather than copying requirements.
- Titles, dates and employers remain accurate.
- New wording connects to my actual experience.
- Missing experience has not become an invented credential.
- I will apply through the employer’s stated channel.
FICTIONAL EXAMPLE
The same facts, connected more clearly
Fictional vacancy: an employer needs customer communication, order follow-up and documentation. This is not an actual open job.
- Source
- I answered customer emails, followed orders and wrote notes in a CRM.
- Clearer wording
- Handled customer enquiries by email, followed up orders and documented cases in a CRM.
- Do not add
- ’Led the customer service team and increased sales by 20%’ — the source supports neither claim.
- What changed?
- Structure and clarity. No new duties, tools or results.
